Closing Plenary: Ensuring regional priorities are reflected in the changing world of Internet governance▼
Over the course of three days, the APrIGF community has discussed various implications of the rapidly changing Internet and digital technology landscape in the Asia Pacific. At the same time, global Internet governance is also undergoing a shift, with the beginning of the WSIS+20 process and the United Nations Summit of the Future. These processes could have a profound impact on the future of Internet governance and the developing digital societies of our region. There is a need to ensure that our regional priorities are heard and reflected in the aforementioned processes. With governments having an overbearing role in the governance of the Internet, how can other important stakeholders such as civil society, private sector and technical community effectively make their voices heard? What is the duty of governments in the Asia -Pacific to take into consideration the realities, needs and priorities of its peoples while setting the Internet governance agenda going forward?
